Making My Dreams Come True and "That's a trap!"

We call Macy "Dr Macy" because she walks around with a stethescope around her neck all the time. Macy on the slip-n-slide in Holland in June.
Aylah and Mommy and the famous Dora birthday cake!

A game from Grandpa and Grandma!

I would first like to apologize on behalf of our blog site and Josh's computer. Even since it crashed the site and our computer have been in a fight and have not been allowing me to cut/paste or post videos. So in no particular order, here are our pictures. Sorry it's so confusing and not too cool looking.

Our little city girls walking home from Mom's Group on Aylah's birthday wearing their new outfits :)

Well it has been a while since I wrote an acutally decent blog entry with stories, pictures, etc. So sit down folks, well you probably already are, and sit back and relax cuz here we go...
The other day Josh was making coffee. He had just ground a huge amount of beans and was about to pour it into the coffee maker. But then he spilled it. All over. Huge mess. On the stove, counter, floor, and under the oven. So I suggested he just go and get our vacuum and suck it up with the attachment. Later that week I was vacuuming and realized that our rooms were slowly starting to all smell like coffee. Wonder why?..... I told Josh when he got home and said, "It has always been my fantasy to have our whole house smell like coffee." His response, "Just making your dreams come true one day at a time." :)
A few weeks ago we had a sit down with Aylah. Now that she's 3 we were explaining that her time outs would now be 3 minutes long. Her response instantly: "No! That's a trap!"
(Where does she learn this stuff?)
Somewhere along the way we missed posting about Aylah's 3rd birthday. It was great fun with a Dora theme and cake. Check out the cake I decorated for her! Only took 4 hours to frost but she loved it. Nana and Papa even came to celebrate and we had an end of the year Mom's Group bash so it was a full day. She got Candyland from Josh and I as her present and Hi-Ho Cherry-O also. I love board games and have been waiting for her to turn 3. She also got lots of cool markers/crayon/paints/books/clothes/toys. She didn't get a lack of presents lets just say.
Approximately a week after Aylah turned 3 I started hearing things like, "Hi poopyhead, peeface." and "You're a funny boy mommy."
Great! I really hated this part of being a teacher and I was really hoping that somehow our girls would magically skip the phase where bodily functions and calling people names was funny. Guess not.

Another funny Aylah thing. Her and I were sitting at the table eating lunch with Josh's old cell phone sitting on her placemat. We were having a wonderful, engaging conversation, probably talking about what we were going to do after naptime, when the low battery sound beeped. Aylah said to me, "Oop, somebody's calling me." And then preceeded to grab the phone and answer it and engage in a full out pretend conversation." I must say that this is the first time someone has interuppted a meal with me to answer a cell phone so rudely. I think we have to work on manners.
Last Aylah story. We were getting ready for bed and were talking about the book we had read, "Someone Special" I think was the title. It's the book about the wooden people, the Weemiks, that Eli carves. All day they go around putting yellow stars on the people they like and gray dots on the people they don't like. If you can do something special or are pretty, people give you a star. If you are ugly or mess up a lot, you get a gray dot. In the book there is one Weemik who doesn't have any stars or dots. As she explains to another Weemik it is because she goes to talk to Eli every day. So then I explained to Aylah that Eli is kind of like God. We can go and talk to him any time. She turned to me with a very sincere look on her face and said, "Mommy, I want you to drop me off so that I can talk with God and then you can pick me up when I'm done."

Talk about melting my heart. Of course I'm her Mom and so I got tears in my eyes and pulled her close to me. I love our little girl. She may talk non-stop, jump non-stop, and sing non-stop, but she is beautiful and fun and I'm so glad I get to spend every day with her.

On to Macy. What can I say. She's got attitude. When she isn't busy flinging everything off of her tray at mealtimes, she is following Aylah around copying everything she does or protecting her territory of the toy she is currently engaged in. I am waiting for the first drop down, drag out fight between the two. I am guessing it will be over a baby doll but we'll have to wait and see. So far there has just been hair pulling and pushing...
Macy has had a rough go as of yet. After 3 doctors visits and numerous prescriptions, we have figured out that she is allergic to mosquito bites. While we were in Michigan she kept on getting these mysterious huge welts all over her body. They turned red with a bump in the center. But then she started to itch them so they broke open and started to bleed. Then they healed over with scabby tops but she kept on itching them open again. Poor little girl. She was high maintenance for a while getting an oatmeal bath every day, then oatmeal lotion, then a combo of neosporin and cortizone cream mixed together on all of her bites. She is just finally starting to heal and they are starting to fade away. She still has a super itchy head so we are trying to figure that out... don't worry she doesn't have head lice, just really dry skin. Any advice??? we tried coal tar shampoo but it hasn't helped.
Macy has learned a ton of new words lately, which is really fun, and understands even more, which is also really fun. So now when I ask her to do something, I know she understands and I can't say, "oh, she's too little to know what I'm asking her to do." Sorry kiddo.
So it's the middle of July which means New City Summer Camp is under way. Josh works from 7 am to 6pm so he is exhausted, poor man. After 4 weeks of craziness we get to go to Michigan for 3 weeks! So chances are we will see lots of people while we are there, so hopefully that means all of you :)
July 31st is my 10 year high school reunion. It made me feel old... I'm not going. We will miss it by 2 days but I don't think I would go anyway. However Josh and I feel like if everyone from our classes were to film a 2 minute update on their life and someone compiled it onto a DVD to buy, we would totally buy it! Maybe cuz we are just nosy and want to know what everyone else is doing with their life.
Josh's birthday is coming up this week, July 14th! Fun stuff is planned but it's a surprise. He's turning 28.
Also our 5th Anniverary is July 23rd! Yea! Yes, we are still in love :) Lots has happened in 5 years, huh?
So I'm still spending my spare time going to kickboxing and also I love my Cooking Light magazine. Got to work out to burn off all the food I like to cook. But I try to cook pretty healthy stuff except for when the "Pizza issue" came out a few months ago. Might have gained a few pounds from those pizzas but it was well worth it! Yum!

Did you know that if you slice overripe bananas and put them on a jelly roll pan in the freezer, you can then put them in a blender and blend them into an ice cream type consistency. Then just eat it plain, or add peanut butter, or chocolate, or anything your heart desires. I like frozen raspberries.

Well, I think that is it for now. Enjoy the rest of your July and hopefully we'll see you soon!
