Josh walked through Aylah's room this past week and started to sing along to Aylah's cd. Aylah turned around and in her most authoritative bossy voice said, "Stop singing my business!" We both burst out laughing and I said, "She's all yours, Josh."
Aylah and Macy and I were on our way out the door to go to Mom's group when I asked Josh if he could move the pack n play into our bedroom so that I wouldn't have to when we returned home and the girls were crabby and hungry. (It's my new naptime plan, which is working out famously) I then said that it would be a big help. Fast forward 15 mins. when we were actually walking out the door and down the stairs Aylah turned around, walked back up the stairs and said to Josh who was watching us leave, "Daddy, you put pack and play in bedroom. That be big help to me." and turned around and walked back down the stairs. We both burst out laughing and Josh said, "She's all yours, Andrea."
So our daughter is getting to be quite the comedic relief for us.
Although life in those paragraphs seems funny and peachy... it has been quite otherwise.
Our girls both got colds right after we returned from Michigan and passed it to me... and the day I got the cold Aylah woke up that night vomiting in bed. And then the diarrhea started... the dreaded flu! Aylah passed it on to Macy within 2 days and Macy passed it on to Josh. The day after Josh got it we admitted Macy to the hospital for dehydration. I spent an awful night in the ER/ Peds unit in Hoboken having to pin Macy down so they could draw blood and put in an IV four times. And then they put her in one of those metal cribs to sleep the rest of the night in. She kept on waking up and slamming her head against the bars and crying. I was "sleeping" on a pull our chair and so then she would see me and get even more upset. The nurses also had to wake her up every 2 hours for vitals and she kept on pinching her IV so her machine would start beeping. Needless to say, she got hydrated again and was allowed home. But somewhere in there we had the two girls and Josh with the flu and me with a bad cold, that I have yet to kick.
I thought things were getting better when Aylah got another cold and passed it back to Macy. Macy was running high fevers for a few nights and not really sleeping that well.
So here we are 4 weeks later and there are still coughing, snotty nosed girls at our house. I have high hopes that it can't get worse.
And along with that drama, Josh sprained his ankle in a yearly snow football game with the teenagers and his computer crashed and wouldn't start... we felt like we were being attacked on all sides. Oh and the brakes and muffler went on our car.
There is also a lot of health issues going on with the staff and their families at New City and some struggling marriages.
Josh and I were talking a few days ago about how we don't usually talk or think about spiritual warfare. But in the case of the past 4 weeks it is very evident to us that Satan is up to something. We have felt drained physically, spiritually, and emotionally. The attack was a valiant effort which overwhelmed us but we can honestly say that God has been so good to us. We have felt taken care of by numerous people on a number of occasions and know that God's grace and faithfulness will prevail. We know that God is trying to do some good things with New City right now, especially in the lives of some of the teenagers and Satan is trying to stop it from happening. So if you could pray for us and the ministry at New City. Pray for healing for our family and for josh's foot and staff members. And pray for the teens at New City, those that are feeling a tug on their heart from God and being challenged but are not too sure if they want to jump in. Thank you!
On a much brighter note, Josh and I became an Uncle and Aunt again! Esme Rose was born on February 10! She is a cutie! Jonah and Elizabeth have Doug and Dawn out to help them right now and we wish we could be there too! We can't wait to meet the new addition to the family!
Well, that is about it for now. Enjoy the rest of February and watch some Olympics to cheer on the U.S. :)
