Aylah's favorite current subject is poop. She is convinced that her baby doll has pooped all the time and even requested a diaper be put on her. So Cabbage Patch doll Mertyl Emma received the first size newborn diaper instead of our actual little baby. She also walks around and snatches diapers from the basket on her changing table and then kicks it into high gear and heads for the farthest reaches of the house giggling and doing her little funny side kick run. When I catch up she gets a very serious look on her face and says, "it's poop." Crazy little girl and crazy that my life revolves around conversations on poop right now.
I went to a friend's birthday dinner last night. I was driving again through Hoboken down the main street and it was crazy busy! People and cars everywhere and my first reaction was, what are all these people doing out?! It is so late! I then looked at the time and remembered that it was only 8:00pm and yes, other people in the world have lives that involve them leaving the house after 7:00pm. Hmm.... I don't really quite remember what that's like anymore. All of the lights of the city sure did look pretty and I enjoyed sitting in the "leather lounge" at some swanky place along the Hudson river. Kind of crazy that we live only like 2 miles from where the plane crashed last week. I guess it's docked only a mile away from here getting looked over by investigators.
Josh got a new office at work! He was super excited and picked out a sage green color for the walls. It goes well with the MSU office chair he has. We went searching for pictures for the walls at IKEA last week and now we just have to hang them up. Josh has been working a lot and is actually gone this weekend on a teen retreat. I don't envy that part but I'm not looking forward to being alone all weekend with Aylah.
I'm still busy praying our baby comes a few weeks early and counting my numerous practice contractions that I get all day. I got out some baby stuff today; baby Nuks, baby bottles, a swaddle blanket... Aylah just kept watch from a nearby spot on the floor with a look of confusion and distrust in her face. She's in for a rude awakening.
Oh I have a clumsy story to tell. So I trip over things all the time now and even fell going up the stairs the other day.... no harm done except to my knee. When we got home over Christmas Aylah's pile of toys turned into an avalanche and I decided we needed to donate some old ones and get a big plastic tub for the new ones. So as I was wading through her tornado of a room with a newly purchased tub, I tripped over all of the toys and fell on her new plastic baby doll stroller. I heard a snap and looked down in fear and sure enough, I had broken off one of her wheels. I felt horrible but not too bad since she was still pushing it around after that and didn't notice that she was 3 wheeling it. But later on that day she noticed me holding the 4th wheel at which point she took it from me, knelt down and was trying her hardest, complete with grunts, to put it back on. I then decided it was time for some hot glue. So I took out the gun and hot glued it back on. Well, my hot glue job lasted all of 2 hours and then I was helping Aylah push it downstairs and the wheel broke again. I was having a bad mommy day. So I waited for our superhero to get home. The superhero said we would just have to throw it away. I threw a pillow at him and told him it wasn't an option. So superhero then took the hot glue gun and when he was finished the wheel was back on and the stroller operational. No more incidents since then and Aylah is happily pushing it around our apt. every day. Phew.
Josh's Mom and our sister-in-law Elizabeth and niece, Ella, came to visit last week. We took a little video of the girls playing with blocks. I'm sure that only our family members who know the 2 girls will appreciate this... but here it is. Ella introduced Aylah to the idea of putting things on shelves and Aylah liked to walk around behind Ella going "shhh" because Ella loves to test out the acoustics in every room of the house :)

And lastly here are a couple pics. from bathtime in January. Aylah loves the water when it comes out of the spout! and as you can see in the 2nd picture she is still working hard on growing her mullet :) We have to take bath pictures in black and white because the tub and tile are both pink and so combined with the flash the picture turns out an orangy color.

I'm telling you, your little girl is going to potty train early. She will get so excited to see the poop in the toilet:)
